What is an auto dialer?

An auto dialer is software that calls a list of phone numbers automatically, one after another, so a caller does not dial each number by hand. Contact centres often use cloud dialers that ring many numbers at once for a floor of agents; NLCaller is an auto dialer app that works on a single phone instead. It dials the next number through the phone's own SIM after the gap you set, and a person is on every call. Lists can come from filtered leads, imported files, the call log, leads assigned to a caller or today's due follow-ups. How do I set up an auto dialer?

On an Android phone the first session takes a few minutes.

Install and set as phone app. Get NLCaller on WhatsApp, sign in and make it the default dialer.
Load a list. Pull in a spreadsheet, link a Google Sheet, or narrow your existing leads with a filter.
Choose the settings. Pick the gap between calls, the redial rule and the ring limit.
Start the session. The first number rings; pause, skip or stop whenever you need to.
Note each outcome. The after-call sheet opens between calls for status, remark and follow-up.
Check the Done tab. Completed leads show they were finished by the auto dialer.

Is using an auto dialer legal in India?

Auto dialers are not banned in India, but commercial calls made with them are regulated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Its Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2025, published on 12 February 2025, set these rules:

A business must notify its telecom operator in writing, in advance, before using an auto dialer or robo-calls, and state what the calls are for.
Promotional calls made through an auto dialer or robo-calls may come only from 140-series numbers. Service and transactional calls of that kind use 1600-series numbers.
Senders who break the rules can have their numbers suspended or disconnected.
